SEARCH BLOCKS site collected by EAHIL group (M.v. Amsterdam-Lunze, R. Küfner Lein , G. de Jonge)
BUILDING BLOCKS, (Hans Ket) search blocks of the study group for Biomedical Information of the Dutch Library Association (KNVI) subject to license under Creative Commons Naamsvermelding-NietCommercieel-GelijkDelen 4.0 Internationaal-licentie.
On this site a group of Dutch medical information specialists have compiled a number of ‘Search Blocks’. Search Blocks are elements of searches for literature, which have been drafted at some point for this purpose and are published here for re-use. Using these blocks hopefully helps our colleagues to start a search, to find terms and variations and so execute searches more efficiently and easier and maybe even with a higher quality. The sources of the blocks are mentioned, and e-mail-addresses of the authors can be provided on request.
These building blocks are intended for use when performing complex search strategies in medical and health bibliographic databases, like PubMed, Embase, PsycInfo, Web of Science and others. These blocks can be used by experts in the field of searching for literature, e.g. information specialists, clinical librarians, health librarians and professionals in closely related areas. We think that these Search Blocks are useful for these experts as they can judge the usefulness and applicability and are able to change, derive, adapt or otherwise these blocks for re-use for a specific goal and for the original resource or other resources.
These are just basic material and bear no guarantee, warranty or whatever for completeness, accuracy or validity: what you see is what you get!
As we are happy to share these blocks with other professionals, we also want their feedback, adaptations, remarks and comments on these blocks. And also, of course, we like to receive new blocks which we can publish on this website. If you use (an adaptation) of these blocks please acknowledge this website as the source. This will also help the distribution of this information and hopefully the expansion of the number and quality of the Building Blocks.
Please mail us with any questions, remarks etc.
